Minutes September 19. 2013

ST. ANNE’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH
MINUTES - SEPT. 16, 2013 MISSION COMMITTEE MEETING
PRESENT: Dan Ennis, Rebecca Lovelace, Mike Battle, Mike Roberts, Julie
Hearn, Kevin Shea

Dan opened the meeting w/ a prayer. A candidate for the position for administrative
assistant was interviewed, and the vestry unanimously agreed to hire her, for up to 10
hours a week. Among her duties will be producing the Sunday bulletins, setting up a
member directory, and helping the treasurer enter the financial data.

The minutes for the Aug. meeting were reviewed, and upon motion of Lovelace/Shea,
were approved.

Rebecca gave the Treasurer’s report. All bills are paid, and we have a working balance
of $38,597.81 Some of this is already pledged to the Diocese (10% of our check
income since July 1). Upon motion of Battle/Roberts, the treasurer’s report was
accepted.

We renewed our contract for the use of Lackey Chapel through Dec. 22. Dan reported
that the chapel will be unavailable to us the morning of Nov.10. After discussion, the
vestry agreed to ask Cheryl Adamson for the use of her worship space at Palmetto
Missionary Baptist Church, for a 5 pm service on Nov. 10. Rebecca will contact her. A
decision was made to celebrate our first anniversary on that date, with a party to follow
the worship service, at the home of Richard & Rebecca Lovelace. Rebecca will contact
Larry Dickerson to provide the BBQ meat, and all members will be asked to contribute a
side dish.

Rebecca suggested that we purchase Quick Books for use by our Treasurer, to make it
easier for her to record our financial data. The vestry unanimously agreed that Rebecca
purchase it.

There was discussion about how to proceed with the Bishop’s request that we provide
an opportunity for any member to make a major donation to the Diocese’s endowment
fund. Dan will make members aware that if anyone is interested in making a major
donation to the Diocese, they can contact the Bishop’s office, and attend the meeting
the Bishop is setting up to talk to potential donors.

Dan gave an update on clergy coverage. He had a discussion w/ Barry Stopfel about
providing coverage for parish emergencies, when Father Barron is unavailable. Father
Stopfel is interested. Dan & Rebecca will draw up guidelines for both priests. We
agreed on a fee of $200 per month to be the “on-call” priest for visiting those who need
to talk w/ a clergy person, or for providing support in the cases of serious illness or
death.
